Edward (ED) Piper

Ed Piper has over 35 years of diversified experience in intelligence, law enforcement, security, education, training and consulting.

He previously served in the U.S. Army, Naval Intelligence and law enforcement. His experience includes assignments in crisis management, anti-terrorism and security training. He has conducted security assessments of sensitive facilities and received awards for his crisis management training and planning activities.

Ed has been teaching security courses in antiterrorism, physical security and security management since 1984. He has served on the faculties of Central Texas College, Webster University Graduate School, George Washington University, University of Baltimore and Johns Hopkins University. He designed a security management concentration for Johns Hopkins University a few weeks after the 911 attacks. Ed also serves on the graduate faculty of Norwich University.

Ed was asked by the American Management Association to teach Crisis Management to business owners in New York City located in the Ground Zero area.

Ed's work in private maritime security started in the Reagan Administration's War on Drugs. Ed was one of the pioneer security consultants conducting security assessments of ships and ports in the late 1980's. He has utilized this experience to help design anti-terrorism security solutions for the maritime industry since the 911 attacks. He has taught courses in ISPS and USCG compliance for the maritime industry. He currently serves as a consultant to the senior RSO of Panama and to the Maritime Institute. His initiative for Homeland Security Tax Credits, was published in the Journal of Commerce and reviewed by the White House and Republican National Committee.

Ed has also served as a consultant to the federal government and state governments on workplace violence, school security and drug free workplace initiatives. He received awards from two Maryland Governors for his work in these areas.

Ed holds a Master Degree in Applied Behavioral Science from Johns Hopkins University and plans to pursue his PhD in adult education.

Ed has appeared in the electronic media several times as a guest on CNN, CBS and local T.V. and radio networks as well as being interviewed by newspapers such as The Baltimore Sun, The Journal of Commerce etc.

His many awards and citations include: a Navy Achievement Medal, "Junior Officer of the Year" with NIS, Award from the Governor of Maryland, Letter of Appreciation from the Assistant Secretary of Defense, Letter of Appreciation from the U.S. Air Force, Naval Intelligence Command Commendation, Certificate of Appreciation from the Director of Marine Corps Intelligence, and Certificate of Merit from Harvard University.
